Grant funding for Wakefield Businesses

Wakefield first, the Wakefield District Development Agency is offering businesses in Wakefield, West Yorkshire the opportunity to apply for additional funding for technological and business innovation.

The scheme supports pre-start, young and established businesses operating in the Wakefield district of West Yorkshire. Offering a financial contribution to develop business ideas and create additional investment and/or new jobs.

How much funding is available?

Buinesses which have been trading for less than 18 months can apply for up to 40% of eligible project costs. Older business can apply apply for up to 30% of project costs

The maximum potential grant is £5,000, though in exception circumstances, the Grant Panel may consider awards above this figure.

What can the grant be used for?

• Research and development
• Implementation of innovative ideas resulting is reduced cost and / or increased productivity
• Environmental projects which benefit your business or the wider community
• IT developments and infrastructure which support the introduction of e-commerce and the improvement of management and financial systems to increase competitiveness
• Introduction of crime reducing measures to business premises

What types of businesses are eligible?

Priority will be given to applicants that have not previously benefitted under a grant scheme. In the first instance, preference will also be given to businesses employing fewer than 250 people.
